A Message to the Park Community

Members of the Park Community,

For some of our students this is their first Presidential election, and for all of us it has proven to be one of the most divisive election cycles in our experience.  What is critical to note is the greatness of our democracy is found in the simple fact that now we pull together again as Americans.

This year we have focused as an institution on inclusion.  That reflects our core belief that united we stand, divided we fall.  In the weeks ahead Park faculty, staff, and students will need to model this belief more than ever.

Let all of us be supportive of each other and stay grounded as a community by our faith in each other.

President Gunderson

    Dear Dr. Gunderson:
Park University is fortunate to have the wisdom and guidance of you and your lovely wife Laurie. As an alumna of the Class of 1965 it was my privilege to help organize our 50th year reunion. From the moment my parents, younger sisters and I came from Iowa to see Park for the first time at the start of my freshman year in September 1961 I have known that Park is special among colleges and universities. Now in the age of the Internet it is my privilege to have transcribed a blog, from 2010 to 2015, based on the nightly diary entries I wrote starting as a junior in high school in Iowa in 1960 and ending in the summer of 1965 when I was tutoring Parkville area students in a summer reading program. I continue to write a monthly post to keep A 1961-65 Park College Diary “current.” It is now my privilege to find diary posts from the blog to share on Twitter at https://www.twitter.com/BarbaraMcDWhitt .
